We use Cypress logs Center cut Cypress is very resistant to termites, rot and shrinkage. Cypress shrinks far less than other logs and is far more durable. Cypress also offers far less maintenance than contemporary homes. Most log home manufacturers do not use Cypress. The material you use does make a difference. Use a better building material in your dream home. |

| 6. |
We have our own construction company We can assist you with building your log home to what ever level of completion you need and want. Check it out. Most log home manufacturers tell you to find your own contractor to build the home that THEY supplied. Why is that? Providing the construction services involves a lot more liability. Is the log home manufacturer anxious to dump off a shipment of logs at your property and be done with you? Use a company that stands behind their product to the end and is willing to actually build what they sell (even if you do choose to build it yourself). |
| 7. |

This service is included in the price of our standard floor plans. |

We air dry our logs BEFORE we mill them Let’s think about the log home manufacturer that tells you they dry their logs in a kiln so they will shrink less after construction. Typically to get to the proper moisture level, logs must be dried one month for every inch of wood. If they are providing you with 6 inch logs are they going to dry all the logs for your home for six months? How many logs is that? How many homes do they sell? How big is that kiln? The fact is that many log home manufacturers only treat their logs in a kiln to kill insect larvae. Check it out! Another major log home manufacturer that uses a kiln says this, “Unfortunately, in the log home industry, kiln dried means only that the wood was put into a kiln. It has nothing to do with how well or at what moisture content they were dried to.” We agree with that statement.Come visit our mill, we will show you your logs drying in our yard! We aren’t saying that Cypress doesn’t shrink at all, but because it is a much denser, slower growing wood it shrinks a lot less than Pine and other products (typically only 3/4 of an inch compared to the 2 to 6 inches of shrinkage from Pine and other log products). And why not let that little bit of shrinkage occur before we mill your logs? Come and see for yourself. Even Cypress logs should be air dried before milling to minimize shrinking and checking. If you are looking at another company take a tour of their mill and see if the logs are green when they are milled. You might be surprised. Don't be surprised after you build. |
